Shin Tae Hwan, who is a part of the nationally prominent Taesung Group, plans a gunpowder accident to kill a Lee Ki Chul because he believes the miner is blocking his future with the worker's union.

Shin Tae Hwan kills Lee Ki Chul with a mining explosion. Due to Yu Mi Ae's revenge, Shin Tae Hwan's son becomes the miner family's Lee Dong Wook while Lee Ki Chul's son becomes Taesung's Shin Myung Hoon.

To drive out the remaining members of Lee Ki Chul's family, Shin Tae Hwan has Chun Hee's home burned down. The angry Dong Wook sets fire to the house of Shin Tae Hwan, and Dong Chul takes responsibility and flees to protect his younger brother.

Dong Chul, who is escaping, is captured by Shin Tae Hwan and taken to the juvenile prison. While he is living a harsh life in jail, he meets the boss of a small gang, Wang Gun, who helps him escapes the juvenile prison.

Dong Chul pays for Chun Hee's surgery and joins the gang. When he arrives in Macau, Dong Chul is left alone.

Dong Chul lives in Macau with Ken & Jiaomin and finds a niche living there, but he his longing for his family grows. He also meets Mike, the son of the godfather of Macau, and Young Ran.

Ji Hyun and her hometown friends gather to celebrate Dong Wook's college acceptance, but Myung Hoon ruins it.

Chun Hee spots Myung Hoon gifting Ji Hyun a necklace. Meanwhile, Dong Chul gets attacked by a stranger.

While Young Ran is escaping, Dong Chul is shot by a gun protecting her. Myung Hoon visits Chun Hee about the issues of the redevelopment project and ends up trashing her home.

Dong Chul asks Dae Hwa to accept him as one of his people and tells Dong Wook that he will return home.

After receiving a phone call from his father, Shin Tae Hwan, Myung Hoon looks for Ji Hyun, but only finds clothes scattered around. Myung Hoon opens the bathroom door and screams while holding his face.

After being tortured at Namyoung-dong and thrown into a random field, Dong Wook dreams about his brother. He hears Dong Chul's voice and Dong Wook raises his head to see his brother coming towards him and begins to cry.

While Dong Chul goes to visit Dong Wook, who went to the military for his mandatory service, Shin Tae Hwan and Kim Tae Sun conspire to get rid of Guk Dae Hwa.

Ji Hyun gets married to Myung Hoon. Meanwhile, Chun Hee warns Dong Chul not to get in Dong Wook's way.

Young Ran finds Dong Chul and confesses her feelings. Meanwhile, Sung Hyun breaks up with Hye Ryung.

At the hospital, Dong Wook meets Ji Hyun who tells him to stop with the people's rights movement and live comfortably. Dong Wook tells Ji Hyun that the hardest thing he had to do was getting rid of his love for her.

Wang Gun tells Dong Chul to come for Ki Sun. Meanwhile, Dae Hwa introduces Mike as Young Ran's fiance.

When Dae Hwa pushes Dong Chul into a corner, Young Ran suggests running away together, but he rejects her.

Tae Hwan's gang beats up Dong Chul. Then, Dong Chul offers a slot machine license to Yang San Bak.

On the day of Young Ran's engagement, Dong Chul gets captured by Wang Gun, who wants the slot machine license.

Dong Wook is upset that Hye Rin hides the fact that she is the daughter of the owner of Hansae Daily. However, Dong Wook hugs her warmly as she talks about her past.

Dae Hwa seeks Dong Chul to find Young Ran. Meanwhile, Chun Hee tells Dong Chul to stop bothering Dong Wook.

Shin Tae Hwan learns from Ji Hyun that Dong Wook has been transferred to the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office. Dong Chul goes to the airport to pick Young Ran who is returning home.

At the HK Bank merger event, Yu Mi Ae (Rebecca) tells Shin Tae Hwan that she will get her revenge. Myung Hoon becomes shocked after overhearing Mi Ae's story about Shin Tae Hwan ripping out their child from her stomach

Dong Wook claims a search and seizure warrant for Taesung Group. Meanwhile, Dong Chul tries to help Mike.

Dong Wook interrogates Tae Hwan about the illegal lobby of Taesung Construction. Tae Hwan laughs slyly at him.

Young Ran discovers Dae Hwa's help in acquiring Taesung Electronics. Also, Myung Hoon gets into an accident.

Rebecca tells Myung Hoon about his birth father. Myung Hoon gets Tae Hwan's hair for a DNA paternity test.

Myung Hoon debates turning over the documents to the tax bureau and tells Yun Hee he wants to be a good son.

Dong Chul sees Tae Ho and gets teary. Myung Hoon doesn't respond when Ji Hyun asks about Chairman Oh.

During a gunfight with the police and the Triads, Dong Chul takes a gunshot to the leg. Dong Wook angrily asks Dong Chul if Guk Dae Hwa's daughter is so great to risk his life.

Oh Yun Hee goes to Rebecca to confirm the truth and falls into shock. Meanwhile, Chun Hee becomes worried after overhearing a phone conversation between Jeong Ja and Dong Chul.
