Tubman is a slave whose new owner claims to be a fair man, but treats her harshly; she finds inspiration to escape for freedom in the North.

At the risk of recapture, Harriet Tubman helps organize the Underground Railroad, which enables hundreds of enslaved African Americans to make their way to the freedom of the North.
